Default Rear cargo shade

Hey all,

Does anyone know if the RX 350's came with the rear cargo shade as an optional accessory when purchased as new, or were they standard with all RX 350's? I didn't get the window sticker when I bought my CPO'ed 07 RX back in July. My sales associate from Annapolis Lexus claimed they were optional, but then again, she lied about a lot of things

I'm wondering this because there's a slight issue with the latch, and if it's considered an accessory, then it should be covered under the CPO warranty.

Thanks

Yes, the tonneau cover is standard equipment across the line. Did you look in the small compartment that is storage for the cover in the front of the hatch area? You need to push the two buttons and the flaps pop up though these may be hidden by the cargo carpet mat. That area was designed to hold the tonneau cover when not in use.

I think Carol Kane said it best in the movie Princess Bride, "Liar! Liar! Liar!"

The carpeted cargo mat may have been extra, but the carpeted floor mats and the tonneau cargo cover were standard items over the years.

Thanks for this info I use that small compartment, but I didn't know that was meant to hold the cover when not in use. I store my ice scraper in there

I too had no idea that was what that storage area was for. Should play closer to the manual next time I think . I use it for various other things. It fits a collapsible camping table nicely.

No kidding? I'm going to go take a closer look at the storage area. Very convenient if I could store the cover there instead of letting it sit in the garage.

I use the Cover 100%. Place to hide valuables. Nowadays better keep everything hidden, keeps would be robbers looking at stuff to steal.

Maybe it was standard when new but a CPO car comes as is so to speak. Ours did not have one either. But the sales rep agreed to get us one as soon as they took one in on trade that was gray. Six weeks later we had one.

I believe if the shade was truly standard when new, it should be included in the sale of a car sold by the dealer, especially a CPO car, since the sale of a CPO car demands the car to be reconditioned. My point is, if your RX didn't come with a shade, I'd demand one.

Someone mentioned it's not on the 161 point checklist, but other things, such as head rests, are not listed as well, but no one will sell a car with them missing, right?

By the way, the stealership said the shade wasn't covered by CPO warranty, and they wanted close to $1,000 for it! Looks like I'll be contacting corporate.
