Acceleration Problem
A very weird thing happened to me yesterday on my way home. I was almost home, had been driving for about 10 minutes or so, and as I turned onto my street (turning left) I pressed my accelerator and my car seems to have forgotten how to accelerate. This was concerning and I pushed the pedal a couple more times (i.e. effectively pumping it) and the car didn't respond to the input. I took my foot all the way off the accelerator and then back on and the car responded again. No check error lights or anything. First time it has done anything like this and I didn't have any further problems today.
Anyway got any clues as to what could possibly have happened to cause this? I do have to change my gearbox oil, but that's about the only outstanding thing that needs to be done.

Hi Draco,
when I had a cylinder misfire last week it did not cause a CEL to appear. I had rough ideal and poor acceleration. The way we found out about the misfire was to have the OBDII scanner hookup to the vehicle and went for a test drive.

A possible problem with today's drive-by-wire systems. With electronic throttle control the gas pedal is not really connected to anything on the other end. Pressing the gas pedal is not physically connected to the action of providing more gas to the injection system.

My car was serviced not so long ago and I had a major service done maybe 2 services ago. The plugs in them should last for a fair bit of time. So I highly doubt it was that, and also given it's the first time it has ever happened, I would suspect something happened on that moment of the day for some reason.
It also finally pushed me to just do a transmission fluid change over. It's not a full transmission fluid change, and just draining from the "sump". The car shifts so much better now but it still has remote signs of what it used to do (but nowhere near as noticeable). Fluid change was a good thing.
