Rattle (in door?) at speeds over 60mph
I own a high-mileage (115,000) 2007 RX 350 that has developed a rattle when I travel over 60 mph. I am having a hard time locating it although I'm pretty sure it is in the driver's side door. All molding is secure and pressure applied anywhere on the door does not stop the noise. If I open the door and "shake" it, I do not hear anything loose...very frustrating.
It is a intermitant rattle that oscilates in volume and only when I hit speeds over 60mph. Usually resonates around 70 or 80 mph. It almost sounds like a loose nut vibrating on the window glass inside the door. Does anyone have any advice to either troubleshoot or fix the rattle?
All advice is welcome...it is driving me crazy.

Does the rattle occur with the windows down as well as up?
My IS-F had a rattling sound and it turned out that the window gaskets needed to be lubricated with silicone. The dealer did this for me and the rattle went away for a while until the process needed to be repeated.
Good luck,
Jeff

I had a rattle in my '05 when I drove 60+. I was pretty sure it was outside the vehicle due to the muffled sound but couldn't pinpoint where it was coming from. It ended up being the cover for the gas tank, which I replaced for around $60.

Most likely the problem is not the roof rack, it is the plastic gas tank liner under the car and the sound radiates to the top. there is a simple quick fix onother posts.

Look underneath for missing body plugs or a loose cover. I complained about a noise in the drivers door and a flapping noise on the passenger side when we first got our 2008 and they knew what it was and fixed them both on the first visit.

See if it goes away with the window couple of inches open. I had this issue, finally found that the window rail near B pillar had a loose bolt and the rail itself vibrated with window up. Had to secure it with a different nut and bolt.

Updating and linking: Had the same issue on my 2008 RX 350 - it was the gas tank cover under the car. The front edge is supposed to be held to the floorpan with adhesive, and is situated right near the rear outside edge of the drivers seat. This adhesive fails over time. If there is any gap on the front lip of that cover (closest to the engine) then yours is loose and that is what is causing the rattle at speed.
