previously had 2011 rx350 with bridgestones
The 2013 RX with Michelin latitude tour is much more quiet and a cushier ride....
I can't believe the difference.......
It is like a different vehicle and I am loving it......
Go michelin latitude tour and stick with 18 inch wheels....no bigger.....if you like a softer ride and a quiet ride with no road noise......

Tire tread compounds are not consistent through the life of the tire. Instead, they are very much like a layer cake with each layer being a different rubber compound depending on the specs the tire manufacturer is trying to create.

Another reason for the noise could be your rotation method. Do you simply move front to rear without crossing the tires moving to the front? If your tires are not directional you should be crossing the tires being moved to the front axle. Something I have discussed previous.

So confused after reading all these post. Just need a new set of tires. It's my wife's car and we drive in snow sometimes def put highway miles on it. Not looking to break the bank.
Any ideas?

The current thinking is one of the following tires to get if you need a 235/55-18 tire:

Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season
Goodyear Assurance ComforTred Touring
Bridgestone Dueler H/L 422 Ecopia

Look for a sale. The Goodyear or the Bridgestone might be easier to replace if you tear one up. These are also so close and each person has their own likes and dislikes such to make any of the three as much a right or wrong answer as the others.

would go with bridgestone dueller ecopia I have one set put on by costco for around $600+.

I ended up with the Michelins from Sams $845.00. Not sure anything will do in "deep" snow-we get deep snow here in NH,but they are fine for what she has to deal with,she can take my GX if its going to snow.

Pretty much figure every 30k or so you have to get tires.

Anyone put these on their RXs? Thoughts if so?

I had some on my 99 RX300 and felt the ride was very smooth plus decent in snow and wet pavement.

Checking at Tire Rack, the Goodyear Fortera tire is not available in the stock sizes for the 2nd Generation RX. One would need to choose a non-standard size to get them to fit. So, chances are slim that anyone has used them here.

Been reading that some people put 255 on, and it handles better, when you replace tires do you plan on going 255 or 235?

255 is wide and your turning radius is wider too. I don't know I went with stock Michelins $800 for 4 out the door including lifetime balance rotation and 50,000 miles warranty and road hazard

I am about to pull the trigger on some Continental conti pro contact, anyone have any experience with these? Based on CR reviews they have no faults, and very good tread life.

I had some on a BMW and hated them - They quickly became noisy, harsh, and 'slapped' on concrete motorways. But I have heard that the DW and DWS are very good tires. Did you check out the tirerack.com website?

i have them on my bmw 2013 535x1 and the bmw before this one, and the conti is quiet and a solid feel to the ride..........very pleased with the conti tire....it is a run flat tire and they are not supposed to be that comfy, but these are.........
