Is it easy to change the amber interior lights?
Hi all
I don't like the orange/amber courtesy lights in my 07 RX350. Their colour just doesn't look modern.
Has anyone changed the lights to a plain white?
I'm thinking of the bulbs/LEDs in:
-glovebox
-footwell
-door step plate
-interior door handle
Is it a simple matter of replacing these bulbs, or is it more sinister...?
thank you
S

i put the exact same post under the lighting section a couple of weeks ago. The "I Have LED's" post doesn't help as it covers replacing the tungsten bulbs with LED's and not replacing the factory Amber LED's for another colour.

The only difference in the procedure is to find bulbs of the color you would like (soft white, bright white, blue, etc. etc.) and place them in the "sockets" of the old amber bulbs. Lots of sites on the net with tungsten bulbs of different colors.

thanks guys
If any of you have done the replacements, were there any problems accessing the bulbs (glovebox, footwell and centre console), or finding replacement bulbs?
I'd probably like to replace them with soft white.
Btw...would these be 3w bulbs?
thank you

I spent some time looking at the orange / amber bulbs that are used for the glovebox, footwells and centre console. I can't for the life of me work out:
1. how to remove them
2. whether they are a proprietary 'sealed for life' unit
3. whether they are LEDs or bulbs?
Please could some experienced person advise on how to access and replace them?
cheers

ps. after some further research on the internet, it appears the glovebox and presumably the footwell lights are Type 74 (very slender 1.4 w wedge bulbs)
BUT....I still can't work out how to actually remove them!

Update: managed to access the orange footwell LED under the driver's side!
After unplugging it from the wiring harness, spent a bit of time dismantling it as far as I could. Used a thin flat blade screwdriver to force the 'inner' part out. (see pic)
Sadly the LED itself seems to be 'incorporated' into the plastic housing, along with a couple of resistors.
Unless there's a way of dismantling it further, I can't see how to change the LED
