Am I the only one who sees a red flag when the dealer's selling price is below the KBB and NADA trade-in values for a 2WD minimally equipped '08 RX in average condition? Granted those aren't necessarily the most solid sources for price information but they're at least data points. Beyond being a "good deal" I would be suspicious of something contributing to a diminished value condition.

The base 2008 RX w/ 100K miles will probably be a tough sell to a typical preowned Lexus buyer who looks for a late-model, low mileage car with bells and whistles.
In this case, dealer probably sweetens the deal to sell the car before sending it to auction.

Thanks again for all the advice. I test drove the RX last night and decided it was a no-go. It drove really really rough, especially when comparing it to a 2010 model w/ 27K miles I had as a loaner last week. The interior of the 2010/2011 models are very much improved over the 2009 and earlier models. The ride comfort was night and day. And lastly, the dealer wouldn't offer even a 30-day warranty on it, they may know something I don't. Smart move is to pass on it.

you basically compared apples to meat loaf lol. Ofcourse a 2010 with 1/4 of the miles will ride nicer and be better overall, that car will probably be over double the cost of the 08 you were looking at though. My sister just got a brand new 2011 and i gotta admit, its pretty dang nice inside. Don't know your budget but i'm gonna have to say you're screwed now because youve spent time in the new gen RX, Good luck on the search though and if it makes any difference i think the second gen looks way sportier!

Agree regarding the gen 2. We bought an '09 because we liked the appearance, especially the interior looks, better than the '10 and '11 models. I think that decision also saved $4-6K and we're very pleased.

Based on the price, it looks good. but service record is the key. If you can bring it to an independent shop for inspection then it would be fine.

Perhaps a third party warranty. Nothing from Lexus after 100K miles. Not in their interest. Not aware of any manufacturer with a corporate warranty past 100K miles.
Without complete information on service history and with that number of miles I would pass. Plenty out there to choose from. Yes, you will pay more, however, you will be better off in the long run.

OP: I would pass. You can find RX's like what you found for very cheap, as I did, but you should be willing to pay more for a well dealer maintained RX with lower miles.
