Default E15 Ethanol Blend Coming

Quick mention that E15, a new 15% ethanol - 85% gasoline blend, is possibly coming to a pump near you in the near future. Has been approved, however, no one is shipping -- just yet.

I's suggest you can plan on about one mpg loss to this dumb initiative. The only interesting thing is that the government ethanol subsidies are being dropped so the cost will be up, way up. Plan on $5 a gallon soon.

Fortunately I live about 8 miles from a real gasoline (no ethanol) station. I get excellent gas mileage with real gas, usually 1.5 to 2 mpg higher than the 10% ethanol blends.

It's funny that the state and feds gets the same tax on a gallon of real (no ethanol) gasoline as they do for the crap (ethanol laden) gas. So I go farther on real gas and pay less tax to go farther.

Our government is so stupid.

Ethanol free gas will be a thing of the past probably before the end of 2011. Fines are levied on Refineries who do not currently blend there gas. Some Refinery's are not quite ready for the blending but are being fined anyway!

My luck with pure gas ran out 2 weeks ago. I think ethanol sucks and is not good for the consumer but the federal gov. believes different.

Thank the environmentalists who spew lies to promote their agenda. The truth is ethanol mix does not burn "cleaner" when factoring in all aspects.

The whole system is garbage and made to manipulate agendas.

This is bad news...10% blend is causing poor performance and even damage in 2 stroke engines (i.e. lawn equipment). 15% blend could cause damage to many engines that have not been designed or tuned for it.

Political swaggering FTL...guess we should bill congress in a class action for passing such a ill-thought plan

One thing I have been using since coming back to Florida about every year is the Star Tron Enzyme Fuel Treatment, http://mystarbrite.com/startron//con...3/123/lang,en/ You can find this at most marine shops like West Marine. That ethanol likes to sit at the bottom of the gas along with all the other stuff that sits at the bottom of the gas tank and I have found a 0.5 mpg increase everytime I've used this after driving on the next tank fuel, plus some more pep in the acceleration.

I'm not a fanatic about ethanol either, but I also had to deal with high sulfur in Mexico and about the only nice thing about that was that my engine ran cooler.

What I don't understand is if all E10 pumps will now become E15?
