Default Back triangle window's frame fell off!

Hello guys,

Can you imagine, my triangle window's frame on the back passenger window fell off this morning!!! It happened when I was on the freeway. Luckily it didn't fly and hit other cars. This is so embarassing. Come on Lexus, is this a quality of luxury car?

So you expect your new ride to have zero problems?

Not at all. I just don't expect a window to fall off any type of vehicle.

So, you sold the 2005 RX but you stayed with a Lexus 2006 GX470. Did you sell the 2005 RX because window trim fell off?

Meh.... Lets just deal with the task at hand here. Helping out some one that had the same problem that allot of us had. The RX is still the number one Lexus sold from what I remember. We already know Toyota buckled a bit with there production value over the years from this kind of thing. Started cutting some corners. However Ford/GM/Chevy have made a practice out of it.

I for one love my RX, this is a pretty easy fix. Move on.

The bad thing about this trim is that Lexus does not sell just that piece, you have to buy the entire quarter panel window as a unit + Install. That just is not right & Lexus knows it.

No you don't have to install the entire thing. Look at my link. Takes 15-30min.

True, but you can't just buy the plastic trim piece by itself (Maybe a $10 item).

If my frame hasn't come off, is there any way of securing it? eg could I inject some glue under the plastic?

You can use the same technique as I posted here for my left drivers side window to make it more secure. Should be no reason it won't come off or be able to be put back on without too much trouble. Just read what I did and do not apply too much force when taking it off.

I removed both sides of the side window trim before they fell off after reading the complaints on CL. Added 3M red double sided tape.....problem solved.
