VSC & brake light - intermittent
On two occasions I've noticed the VSC and brake warning lights stay on after starting the engine. Brakes seem to work OK. I stopped, turned off the engine then everything was OK when re-starting.
I've got a service due next month - do you think it can wait till then to get the error codes scanned, or is this a matter that needs more urgent attention?

Might be able to put it into diagnostic mode... from memory .. turn onto accessories, hold info button, turn lights on/off three times. Not sure if that will give you engine diagnostics but it wouldn't hurt to try.
Also try unplugging your air flow meter (attached to your airbox) then replugging it in in case it is loose. I had this come up after I swapped the filter and accidentally left it loose.
Doesn't sound urgent if it isn't affecting the drivability of the car.

I'd guess it is your brake light switch. Very common problem here. It is located above the pedal. The part is cheap but it is somewhat awkward to replace DIY.

Try to get Autozone, etc... to read the code for free for diagnosis if you are out of warranty.

Thanks Howie - that sequence does get a service menu up, but it only seems to cover the nav/audio. The airflow meter cable seems OK.
Adam, thanks for the clue re the brake light switch - I see there are a number of other members had the same problem. I have a good indie mechanic, so I'll get him to change the switch when he does the service.
