Default What are these wheels? Chrome/Aluminum/Other?

I have a 2009 with PB edition wheels. Does anyone know if they are chrome, aluminum, or whatever other material?

They're both. Aluminium wheels with a shadow chrome finish.

Why what did you think they were?

The Pebble Beach Edition wheels on RX are indeed aluminum wheels with a 3-stage paint finish (black base coat, then a slightly dark metallic silver coat, then a clear coat). This type of finish is often referred to as "gunmetal" paint finish.

I'm asking because I'm looking into some of the best wheel cleaners. I don't want anything that would damage the finish of the wheel

For the last several years, I use Meguiar's All-Wheel Cleaner. It comes in a black bottle. Other Meguiar's wheel cleaner products like the "Hot Wheels" cleaner is too strong and can eat away at the paint finish if left on for more than a minute before being rinsed thoroughly.

Do you just spray it on then wash it off? No scrubbing?

I spray it on and let it do it's thing for about 45 - 60 seconds to gently remove about 80 - 90% of the brake dust then I rinse using my 1500 psi power washer. I then remove the barely noticeable film of brake dust with a Meguiar's microfiber wash mitt soaked in Meguiar's Gold Class soap for washing cars.

As an added level of protection, I finish the process with wiping down the wheels with Meguiar's Ultimate Quick Wax (also available in a black bottle). That's the same stuff I use on the paint finish on the car.

With the Meguiar's products and wheel washing method that I mentioned here, I have had only great success with all my cars in the last 10-12 years! I hope it works for you as well!!!

Ah fair enough I use non-acid cleaner by Meguiars.. seems to do a reasonable job. Top it off with Autoglym Wheel Sealant to keep it looking fresh.

I use a 2" paint brush to scrub with. It doesn't scratch, gets into tight crevices, reaches to the backside of the rim and works great around the brake calipers.

Aluminum cast wheels. Try to use wheel cleaners without a strong acid in them. Also clean while cool and don't let it sit on the wheel. Try brush's made from boar's hair.
