A/C noise - from clicking and grinding to chirping... AAARGH!
Well, my first week with my new (to me) RX 330 has been EXPENSIVE. I had clicking and grinding in the dashboard on the passenger side, so I had the servo motor replaced at a Toyota dealer. That noise is gone now, but it's been replaced by a constant high-pitched, fast chirping.
I immediately took it back to the service dept. and told them they must have screwed something up, but the service manager is saying he heard that sound before they did the repair (oh, REALLY.) and that the other sound was just drowning it out, so I didn't notice it (WRONG.). He's now saying he thinks a second A/C motor is making that sound and I'll probably need to have that one replaced, too.
Does this make sense? Or can anyone else come up with a reason this might be happening?
HELP!

My bet, is you have a fan motor making the noise, as the servos only open and shut vents doors and would not cause a constant noise. Servos move far too slow and limited motion range to give off a constant high pitched noise (usually).
My bet is you have a washer rubbing on the fan motor or something of that nature.

That's interesting... I didn't realize the servo couldn't make a constant noise. Hope they just moved something around when they were doing the repair and the fan motor isn't about to go next!

ask the dealership to prove that it was making the noise, and if it was why wasn't it brought to you attention in the first place.
Tell them to fix it out of their pocket because the only complaint you had with the vehicle was the grinding noise and if there was a chirping noise, he should have mentioned it when he gave the car back and noted it on paper.
