Actually, cars have been designed to appeal to women for the last 20 years. That isn't my opinion, it's marketing reality, why get so upset about it? Face it, you drive a chick car.

But then, we all do. About the only non-feminine American car of the last several decades was the much reviled and hated Hummer and look what happened to it!

I wouldn't get too wired up over marketing realities, the ladies get the nod on most consumer products. It simply makes more sense to appeal to the decision maker and so they do.

I haven't been married for a long time but I do know marketing. Actually, most commercials don't stress power and uh drifting. They stress comfort, economy, style, value and ego. Some of the Dodge commercials are a little edgy (for these days) and of course, truck commercials are aimed nominally toward men but include those same items the ladies are more concerned with.

BMW and Mercedes commercials are fairly androgynous and some tip to performance but with a healthy dose of comfort and pretty as well.

In the family category of autos how many commercials show the woman driving?

Actually, we are back where we started, most consumer goods are designed to appeal to women. Women will (to be kind) influence the purchasing decision for their family on most products. Men buy products with women in mind, that throbbing, red Corvette is purchased to make it's owner attractive to women but the car has to be attractive to women in the first place or it will never be a good "panty dropper".

You seem to be trying to bend reality to fit your wold view. Things have changed drastically in the last 20 years in our society. Traditional "male" products are marketed directly to women because women will be buying those items for men. None of this is a secret, you won't get very far in marketing classes without learning who spends the money in American society.

It's a woman's world my friend, it's a good thing they are so darn cute about it.

Nothing to get angry over friend. Psychology and marketing are arcane pursuits at best although a few courses online or at your local college might be of interest to you.

Approbation is a major reason we buy what we do whether we understand that or not.
