Upped the contrast and brightness of your picture to get a clearer look as to where this is specifically as a bit difficult to see on the other picture



What size bit did you need to use to drill through it? Worried about going all the way through the cover or cracking the cover. Did you drill while the mirror cover was still on the car? Is there anything where you drilled that might cause you to hit wires for the controls etc?

Don't judge how dirty my car is right now...here are some more pics. I popped the mirror off so you could have a better look. All the wires are toward the top of the mirror cap. I drilled through the bottom. You have to take the mirror off the car and disassemble it to run the wires...So do the drilling while the mirror is off the car. I used a tapered bit and the hole is 7/8 inch. I never worried about cracking the cover, it is soft plastic. The pics with the mirror off are a little ugly, but once the mirror is back on you can't see any of the JB Weld (grey stuff).




Where the grey stuff is, is where the back of the LED is.





Thought you might wanna see how well it lights up the ground.





The little clear/shiny thing is the LED.

Couple more bits of information if you have them available.

I assume you mean just removing the actual mirror and not the whole wing mirror from the door? If it is the while wing mirror, how do you remove it?

Where did you tap into for the power to turn on the LED puddle lights?

Unfortunately for me the shipping charge for those back to Australia is horrendous (basically 5 times the price to get the bulbs) just to send it .

You have to remove the entire mirror from the door to get the mirror off. On the interior of the door directly behind where the mirror is attached to the door, there is a plastic cover....Behind the cover there are three bolts holding on the mirror.

You have to remove the interior door panel to run the wiring. I ran the wire trough the door and through the rubber piece that holds the rest of the wiring for the window and such. I connected the puddle light to the door sill light. This way the puddle light will illuminate with the interior lights when you unlock the car or open the door. If you attach it to the interior puddle light, it will only turn on when the door is opened.

Jakenbake have you got a picture as to where you specifically spliced the wires into? I suspect you just removed the sill plate and then spliced into the connector there (obviously per side).

My LED lights are on their way so hoping to do this project soon.

Had to replace driver's side low beam bulb and decided to spend a few minutes polishing up the headlight covers. Before:

Added gold metallic pinstripes and gold valve stem caps to my 2005 black onyx RX330. Was hard to get an able that showed the whole car up close enough to get the stripe, but I did my best.

I was bored tonight and I had extra LEDs laying around...so I swapped out the dim green LEDs in the steering wheel switches for white ones.

I'd love to have puddle lights and switch to white in the steering wheel as well as door sills, but unfortunately, as I have recently found out try to do another project for my bike, i'm not really inclined for the electrical work...

If anyone in NYC would like to help out, I'm willing to pay for parts and work.
