Default Brake Master Cylinder Cup Replacement Recall Repair

I had the following recall done today:

Safety Recall ALG - Certain 2006 Model Year Lexus IS and GS Vehicles & Certain 2004 through 2006 Model Year RX Vehicles Brake Master Cylinder Cup Replacement

The wait wasn't too bad, it took them about 2 hours to complete it. This is the first time I've taken our rig into a Lexus dealer for service and I was pleasantly surprised by the free carwash and free full tank of gas. I guess some Lex stealerships aren't all that bad.

They generally fill up gas for recalls. I've always driven any of my Lexus vehicles in with the low gas light on for recalls. (plenty in the last year or two).

Bringing in the RX next week for this recall.

I got the letter, but I have weathertech mats. So it really doesnt apply to them.

I suggest you still come in. It is just not the floor mat I believe.

I have Lexus all weathers but will install the original ones and I will come in for a free fill up and car wash and a chance for them to check the car.

I also have weathertech liners, but i think the

Vehicles Driver's Side Floor Carpet Cover and Retention Clip recall

still needs to be done. The forward retention clip is not a floormat hook in the carpet. It's a black button-type fastener that secures the lower front panel (near the accelerator) of the center console. If the panel fastener comes loose, the panel my lean toward the accelerator pedal and interfere with the accelerator pedal arm. And yeah, bad things might happen.

After I received the recall letter I checked the "forward retention clip". Sure enough it had become loose. I pushed it in hard and the clip snapped back into place. I am not confident it will remain that way. I check it every week. Lexus indicates in the recall letter that they should have a solution sometime in May 2011.

Solution taking some time tells me that there's more to this than meets the eye.

Have my 2004 RX330 going into the shop next week for this recall. Was told that it would be less than 2hrs, so they prefer that I wait if possible. :-/

Will let you know how it goes.

Had this done last week, along with the retention clip thing. Took 2-3 hours (got a loaner car). They washed/cleaned the car, and topped up the tank (standard in Canada as well, I guess).

Does anyone know if they have to flush the brake fluid for this service?

Or have i gotten some dodgy info?
