Default Problem With Cassette Player

I'm sure I'll be laughed out for asking this question... but I'm having an issue with my cassette player. I needed to listen to a book on tape that the library literally only had on tape. Inserted the cassette and started listening... everything was fine.

Only when I stopped the car and then restarted it, the tape automatically rewound all the way to the beginning, and there's no way to stop this process. You have to let it go all the way to the start of the tape, and then fast-forward again to try to find your place.

I realize it's doubtful that anyone has used their tape player as anything except a way to listen to the iPods, but just in case... has anyone run into this issue? Is there some fix or setting I can change?

I do not think that is normal for your cassette player. Every now and again I will pull out an old cassette tape to listen to in the car and have not notice that happen. Doubt it is a setting.

Would just eject the tape before you shutdown the car. Wait until the car is back running before you pop it back in again.

Also, would try another tape just to make sure it is not happening with just that one.
