Default Lexus Recall for the brake issue

I have been notified through the Owner's website that I have to contact the Lexus dealer for this safety recall.

Check yours out.

Safety Recall ALG - Certain 2006 Model Year Lexus IS and GS Vehicles & Certain 2004 through 2006 Model Year RX Vehicles Brake Master Cylinder Cup Replacement
This is an important Safety Recall. Please contact your authorized Lexus dealer and schedule an appointment to have this remedy performed as soon as possible.

What is the condition? During vehicle assembly, Lexus uses brake fluids containing polymers that act as lubricants for certain brake system components. If replacement brake fluid is used that does not contain a sufficient quantity of polymers, a rubber seal located at the rear of the brake master cylinder may become dry and curl during movement of the piston. If this occurs, a small amount of the brake fluid could slowly leak from the seal into the brake booster, resulting in illumination of the brake warning lamp. If the vehicle continues to be operated in this condition, the brake pedal feel could change, and braking performance could eventually begin to gradually degrade. If the warnings provided by the lamp illumination and the change in pedal feel are not heeded, a vehicle crash could occur.

well if I have to trade in my rx330 I will let them do it on their time and not my. But both times that I had the fluid replace it was with Toyota brake fluid . Did it once at the Lexus store and the other time at the Toyota store.

I called last weekend and they told me they dont have the parts in yet also. However I got her to take my number and she said they will call me when the parts come in.

On another note how does Lexus handle TSB's? I searched up my 05 RX on a TSB site and there are quite a few TSB's on this vehicle. I bought it second hand and Im way out of warranty so Im wondering what it will cost me to have them all fixed if needed?

Most all TSB are for the car while its in the 48mon 50k warranty. So that would be up to your dealership if you are way out. Now things like this brake thing they are going to fix no matter how many miles you have on it.

I have also received the 'Safety Recall ALG' at Owner's website. I was hoping they'll send a postcard/letter via postal mail.

Sure that is on its way for all those that do not log in to the Owner's website. Do you think that they are giving all those the use the website a heads up on getting the car fix first?

I think they will notify using both means. there is no "advantage' to having it changed before another person.

Better wait before calling in, I guess.

Lexus and Toyota are being very cautious nowadays. More info the better, no more fines in the future.

Toyota-Lexus was down 6% in sales compared to last year. Honda was down 4%. And guess who is giving out the huge incentives? The company who once upon a time did not give incentives: Toyota.

Wish Lexus would give out those huge incentives right now. Just thing how many new cars would be on the road if they when with an 0% down 60 month deal
