I have noticed that my charcoal filters start to smell after just a few months. I was buying three or four filters a year. I pulled them out and they weren't even dirty, just smelly. I am back on plain filters and no smell and I am only buying one a year.

It is the dreaded AC evaporator smell. It comes from using scents and they actually build up in the evaporator and then turns sour.

speaking of this Im starting to think mine needs to be changed as thats one of the few things that i havent done since getting my rx350 a little over a year ago now so i need to check and probably change mine. thanks for posting instructions too!

Any idea why the photos no longer appear on the first (very helpful) post by Prech on 10-19-10? Is my browser failing (Firefox 68.0.1 64 bit on Windows)? or is the connection broken to the server where the original photos were uploaded? Just wondering...thanks.

I have no idea,, I just changed the cabin filter out for a Wix carbon one a couple months ago.......IDK what a air filter goes for as I swapped out the engine a/f for a K&N panel filter......once & done.....
