I have always brought my Lexus cars (3) to the dealer in the last month of warranty coverage, ordered an oil change and asked them to check everything because the warranty runs out in a few weeks. I understand that this is a common request and they are glad to help. If your dealer's service dept. does work under warranty, it gets paid by Lexus. If you find a bad transmission a month later, you might well shop the problem around and take the work elsewhere. Warranty repairs to not cost the dealership anything, quite the contrary, so it is glad to find covered work that needs to be done.
Finally, I understand that often this reimbursement from Lexus is at a lower rate than a paying customer would pay, but it's not below the dealer's cost and it's a lot greater than nothing.

I am definitely bringing mine in for a last comprehensive check so that it can be addressed. Nothing to lose. ROI, return on investment.

my 07 rx350 is almost out of warranty @ 48,900

when you go in what you say? when i bring mine in i have to have a problem , not just hey check everything on my car and tell me if i need replacements.
I went in for an oil change and also let the SA know that I getting close to the end of my warranty and would like the car to be looked at. She told me ok, the cost of doing a full inspection would be like $135. However, if they found warranty items needing to be fixed they would waive that cost. So now I am liable for ONLY the oil change cost.

I wouldn't think you need to have a problem, just tell them you want them to do a closer inspection. Yes I was having an issue but even if I didnt I would have still had them check the car once. Paying $135 is better then paying for costly repairs after the fact.

Although I bought mine from Lexus of Sac, it was a great buying experience, I think the service is better at Roseville. I think its because Lexus of Sac is alot busier then Roseville and so Roseville has more time to cater to thier customers.

This isnt the first time, the 1st gen RX had major problems and from what I was told almost all had tranny problems before or around 100k. Ours had issues too but there is always those that have it worse then others and I happen to have one of those but hey its being replaced under warranty!

The CPO process costs ~ $2,000 for the dealer (due diligence inspection) and is tagged on to the selling price. Lexus then honors the warranty.

I remember right after my audio professional buddy and I remove all my stereo equipment out of my Scion tC last year, I lost overdrive on my transmission, I took it into Stockton Toyota, they diagnose the problem and since I have extended warranty, I got a brand spanking new transmission and ECU at no cost to me, that's a $5000+ worth of parts and labor and the extended warranty only cost $600.

Well recieved a call from my SA and she said the car is ready to go. I will have a 1 year unlimited mile warranty on the rebuilt transmission. So I hope all else goes well from the point I pick it up going forward.

So I have picked up my car and have to say the shifting is much smoother, what I expected out of a Lexus. I only had to pay the oil change cost and I am very pleased with the results thus far.

What was the listing price for the CPO suv? I'm interested in going that route to get the suv. I want to know if there's room to negotiate on the price. thanks

I cant remember off the top of my head but I believe its was between 23-24k. I was told that this price was set low mistakenly and should have been higher however, with thier mistake I reaped the benefit.

"I was told that this price was set low mistakenly and should have been higher. . ."
And you believed that?
"This price is too low! - I'm sure it must be a mistake," is an old chestnut used by salesmen for decades, perhaps centuries. I'm glad to hear that the classics are still in use.
