I will be getting Lexus this weekend and undecided between 2 cars, both are Lexus Certified.

1. Lexus 2007 RX 350 46,xxx for $25,500

2. Lexus 2006 RX 400H 55,xxx for $25,990

both are in excellent condition.

i would lean towards the h for the fuel economy, i am not a fan of 70 bucks a tank in my 330

Buy the one that suits/fits you and your needs better. You are the one that is paying out $. Both are fine vehicles but the mileage seems a little high. How long are the batteries warranted for in the 400H? That could be a great consideration.

Other things being equal (which they never are), the economic answer depends on the mileage you will be doing. [If you drive, like me, some 5K miles a year, the non-hybrid is certainly the answer.].

Do both vehicles have the Lexus Premium Plus Package (optional $3000)? What about the improved "Generation 5 Navigation System" which was new in the 2007 model (optional $2650)? The 2007 model also has an improved engine (more hp).

You need to know exactly what each vehicle has to make a fair comparison.

by the way, the Hybrid have HID....is that standard on Lexus or it's an upgrade ? The Rx350 did not mention it so I was not sure if it have it or not.

So are you saying the batteries warranty is different from the standard 100miles/3years warranty ?

I am pretty sure that the batteries have a longer than 4 year warranty, and that they need to be replaced at some point, and that is an expensive proposition. This needs to be figured into a buyer's decision as to whether to spend extra for an h, but seldom is, and comes as a surprise, as it surely will mess up your computations about whether an h is an appropriate vehicle for you, based on your driving patterns and your annual miles.

I bought my 34k miles, 2007 RX 350 in May 2009 for $26,500, though it did not have CPO designation. It is a great car (except for this annoying hard start problem I am having intermittently).

Your bumper to bumper warranty is 4 years/50k miles.

My opinion: The hybrid model is not worth it. You lose a model year and gain 9,000 miles for very little benefit. Consumer Reports calls it a steep price to pay for very little gain.

^^ Agree on the little gain...really not cost effective. Look at the gas prices today. Unless you just want "status."
