Remove /Install Rear Bumper Side Lamp Fixture
I have a 2009 RX350. My wife backed into an object and broke the passenger side subject side marker lamp contained in the rear bumper cover.
Has anyone done this repair themselves and is it a difficult chore. I have not been able to search the forum for instructions or photos of those who have previously done this replacement. My concern is are there special clips or whatever that holds this assembly in place.
Any advice for this layman (mostly inept) mechanic would be appreciated.
Cheers

I've done it. There was actually discussion about it here, so try searching again. You do not have to remove the bumper off, but wrestling the light out of there was challenging. It was held by one bolt, if you go under the car and look inside the bumper, you'll see it.
I think paid around $70 for the new light.

Procedure Update
Thanks for the link. I noted that you used a long extension. How long must it be. I don't have any extensions over about 2 inches and I don't have a universal joint so I would have to buy these items. I noted below in the link that removal of some more bolts will allow for more space but once again I don't fully understand the instructions provided by the last post. Do you think fender means bumper cover and screw means bolt.
Thanks for your help.

I'm not sure why but I could not find any way to get to this light, even after reading the posts by those who claimed they had done so. I've been a shade tree mechanic for 4 decades, but this one stumped me. On my 2004 RX330, I was never able to even find the magic bolt that was mentioned. I called Lexus, who wanted $300 to replace it. I took it to a local body shop, they replaced it for $175, parts and labor. Took them about 30 minutes. They removed the bumper cover. While they had it off, I asked them to replace the bulb in the opposite side.

I did not remove anything, other then 1 bolt that holds the light itself. If you get on the floor under the car and look at the light fron the inside, you will see it.
The extention I used was about 6 inches. Once the bolt is out, the light is loose, you have to wiggle it out of its place. You will have to kind of push the light inside the cover, rather then trying to pull it out. It's pretty tight there, but it's doable.
