Default Just joined the club with my 2007 RX350.

Hi all,
I just bought a Black NAV 2007 RX 350 with 59834 from the dealer on 3/4/10. This is not a CPO and was supposed to be AS IS warranty wise.

So I go to take delivery on 3/5/10 and there is a rattling sound after 60+ mph. I was there at Lexus from 9am till 4:30pm with them trying to figure out what the issue is. I came home with a loaner

I was so stressed out thinking that I bought a lemon without warranty which is when I discovered this site. Was so relieved to see that the rattling is not a big deal, otherwise the whole weekend would have been ruined.

Ofcourse the problem was addressed and I picked up my beauty yesterday in the evening. But I wanted to give a big thanks to club lexus for giving me back my weekend .

- So the next Q I had was, is it worth it to do the 60,000 mile service at the Lexus dealer? If not does anyone know a good Lexus guy in Central NJ?

- Also as I understand it NJ has an implied warranty for 30 days or 1000 miles even when you buy a car AS IS, what sort of issues are covered under that?

- They already did the VVTi - Oil hose replacement (again thanks to Club Lexus) but is there anything else I need to get doen recall wise.

- Lastly any other advice for a newbie.

Again a BIG THANKS to everyone on this board.

I look at a CPO as nothing but a fully serviced vehicle with an extended warranty. The link below has an excellent discussion regarding CPO warranties. Just maintain your Lexus with the proper service intervals and enjoy the ride. Welcome to Club Lexus.

Welcome! Take it slow.

1. Sign up on the Lexus website as Owner and once you are in, you can look at your car's history.
2. Get the 60K mile work done now. No need to bring it in to the dealer, however I will not stop you either. You can dump money at your local Lexus dealer and hope that they will in RETURN give you a break on expired warranty items. Big IF. Try to find a local Toyota expert.
3. This forum has a wealth of knowledge. Use SEARCH and try to be nice in asking questions (you are nice, stay that way).
4. There's not much that we have not seen around here, in terms of RX failures. But we aim to be surprised.
5. If you are a DIY person, you will save a ton of $$. Get the supplies and do your own maintenance, fluids, etc..

Your tranny will be your biggest potential issue. Check the color of your fluid. If it is not reddish-pink, drain and fill ASAP, use Toyota T-IV fluid. Search for a DIY on this. Simple but worth the prevention, bigtime!

Lastly, enjoy the RX!

The 2007 RX has "World Class" transmission fluid, that never needs changing. However, you don't know the history of this vehicle regarding fluid changes. I would have the tranny serviced this one time and the fluid replaced with world class fluid.

Toyota has issued a global spec on transmission fluid. They call it "world class fluid."

I do not know what is different from the Type IV. Same sheet, different name.

My Lexus Service Advisor calls it World Class Fluid. I did some checking and it should be "World Standard". It is a more expensive fluid and was first used the with the RX350. It is also supposed to last for the life of the car.

Thanks guys for all the replies.

- I did sign up on the My Lexus site which is where I also saw the VVTi service bulletin.

- I will definitely do the 60,000 mile service. Just not sure if I should do it at the dealer because of the cost ofcourse.

- Heck, I am already loving my RX. I upgraded from a 1997 Honda Accord LX with 254,000 miles, which as now been bequeathed to my sister, so this is my first experience with "luxury".

And now for the questions:

1) Is this "world standard" fluid only available at the dealer?

2) How hard is it to change the tranny fluid? I mean do you need lifts or something.

3) Are the tranny's still an issue? It was my understanding mainly through reading the forums that this was an issue in the earlier RX 330's and has since been resolved. I guess not??

Tranny fluid is available in the dealer.

Not hard at all. Drain and fill up the fluid. Manual tells you how much to fill. Of course you have to lift the car on stands.

Tranny is not an issue. I am sure yours is OK. Did you see any history of complaints on the tranny on your service history? You just need to keep your fluid fresh.

Good luck.

farcry80, the 60K service at my dealer (Lexus of Bridgewater) is $761. Not cheap but this is one of the major services. If you go with the dealer, I can't say enough good things about Bridgewater. I have worked with Mary since I bought my first RX in '98. She's the best. BUt if you go the DIY route, don't worry, you can't go wrong with this group

Good luck with your 350.

Congrats on your purchase. I also got black 2007 RX350 Executive2 (with many options from President trim) from dealer last week. It has only 26000 km and drives perfect so far.

farcry80, congrats on your purchase. I just picked up a 2007 rx 350 as well and I am in love with it. How much did you pay for yours?

I paid $23,573 (excluding taxes + fees), the total was somewhere around 25.5 with everything. It is not a CPO and was sold AS IS by the dealer here in central NJ.

Good to hear you love your RX, I love mine too.
