Default wind noise after windshield replacement

i had a crack on my windshield on 05 RX330 so I had it replaced with an OEM glass, so I was told. after replacement I am hearing wind noise that starts to be audible at about 40mpg. I can hear the noise but i cannot tell whether there is any wind coming in the car compartment. any experience that others have on this issue? would appreciate your inputs.

Who did the replacement? Lexus?

Whoever did it, take it in for a check up.

Get it taken care of quickly so they don't turn you away. If wind is getting in, water will probably find it's way also. It shouldn't make a difference if it is OEM or not but it should say Toyota on it if OEM.

Wind noise leads me to suspect a poor installation. I'd take it back and ask them to do it right. If this was paid for by your insurance I'd call them as well.

Take it back to the installer...this is a common problem.

What is typically wrong with this noise?

We just had the windshield replaced a couple of months ago. It was done through Safelite (via Geico), I specifically asked for OEM glass, the glass they installed has the word LEXUS etched into it at the bottom, and there is absolutely no wind noise.

They guaranteed their work and said if there was any wind noise that I should call them. I was worried about that, but the installation was done right.

By the way, the receipt showed what Safelite charged Geico. It was $1500, JUST FOR THE GLASS!!!!

I have purchased a used 05 rx330 recently and i just noticed that wind is entering from the bottom of the windshield towards the passenger side corner where the speaker is, and it makes a lil noise when i am driving above 60MPH, on close inspection, it looks like the windshield was changes, since it doesnt have the Lexus name on it anywhere. Hopefully, its just a faulty fitting and my local windshield guy can fix it for cheap.

Anybody know what it costs to replace the rubber lining around front windshield?

It is my experience, no matter what B.S. they tell you at the shop, you should not drive your car for a day after the glass is replaced. Leave it there overnight and pick it up the next day...the glue needs some time to develop full strength. Go over some bumps on the way home with tacky glue, and you are going to regret it for the next 4 years.

The wind noise you hear is not from the glass, it's the rubber molding that goes around the glass. Make sure it is not loose and it's not sticking out somewhere.
