How Can I find Info on my old '04 RX?
Just wondering if there is a way to find out who owns my old '04 RX that we traded in a 1 1/2 ago?
The dealer sold it to another dealer in another state & I do not think they would have any info about it. I would like to email the new owner to see just how it is running & if they had any problems with it & how many miles are on it now.

I have wondered about this myself. I keep on wishing that I would see an old car of mine and check it out.
It is nearly impossible to be able to trace this. Then again somebody might know how.
If you have access to a database of VIN's....that's a different story. Imagine hoa many VINS are added every year, now it is ~10 Million. A couple of years ago, 16 Million per year are brand new cars sold.

Would a current carfax report of your old vin show some new information? I think it will show all of the title transfers won't it? I may be wrong but I thought that was the case last time I looked at a carfax report. Also if a dealer runs your vin, I know it will show all Lexus history assuming the vehicle is still maintained by a Lexus dealer.

Lic plate -> owner: In some states the owner information is public and in some it might be private. Some counties within state have their own rules about what is considered private/public. Law enforcement, insurance companies have access to vin, along with auto-shops where the vehicle is brought for repairs/service.
The title in the state of Texas has the previous owners name and address. So if the new owner chooses to contact the old owner they can. Also the owners manual may have information of the first owner.
My view is: There is a chance the new owner may not like to hear from the previous owner, so as rule the old owner should not pursue.

I will find it creepy. But I must admit, I will call a new owner if I had the number....just to get a glimpse of how the car is...this is sick a bit, eh?
Why are we like this with our cars?
