Default Replacement low beam light bulb

Hey everyone,

I'm new to the forums here. My mom is actually the one with the RX 330. One of the low beam light bulbs is out, it's a HID bulb, and the dealer was wanting a really high price to replace this bulb. I was hoping to help her save some cash and do this for her.

Does anyone know what bulb I need?

This is for a 2004 RX 330

Thanks,
Steve

According to sylvania's replacement guide, below are [most of] the bulbs required for the '04 RX330 w/ HID. Why not give a forum sponsor like XenonDepot (forget their new name) a shot. I bought their aftermkt kit for my GX and can't be happier.

Great! Thanks for that list.

I did a quick search in this section, and couldn't find any write-ups. Is it pretty easy to replace these bulbs? I've never poked around underneath that hood, but do a lot of maintenance for my cars.

I hope their not too hard to do,as mine are original bulbs as well.I wish I had an answer to your question, but have not tackled the job yet.(the older i get,the less I feel like doing this stuff any more) oh btw,if you replace the bulb and it still does not work.It may be the ballast/igniter or what ever their using now to start the bulb.

The low beam is a HID Lamp...hence pricey. Are there aftermarket replacements?

Steve I recently had my left front HID bulb stop illuminating and assumed it was just a very expensive buld, I was wrong it was the ballast. There are several threads pertaining to this subject. The first thing I would do is try the bulb that is working on the side which is not to determine if you in fact have a bad bulb. Changing the bulbs are a little bit more involved then a conventional bulb. Also, if the bulb is not the problem, I again suggest reading a few of the threads pertaining to the "head light computer" which is referring to the ballast. I spent much time in those forums and was glad I did because it saved me a bundle. I purchased my ballast on Ebay for $100.00 the oem Denzo number. Again the forums are very helpful. PM me if you want more info. The dealer will charge over $300.00 for the bulb and more than $1000.00 for the ballast or "head light computer" By the way the reason the ballast may go bad is from moisture and again I suggest thoroughly reading "all" the threads pertaining to the head light computer/ballast. Good luck.

I'm not sure since I have yet to have a headlight bulb burn out on my 1st gen and 2nd gen RX. The headlight itself is covered under extended warranty. I would assume the bulb is included since tail light bulbs were changed out at no charge.

Lights are not covered by the extended warranty. As well as tails, signals, etc.

I agree all the bulbs are "wearable items" and not covered. But what about the Ballast or as some would call the Headlight Computer? Those should be covered as they are an electrical component, right?

I happen to have the Sylvania 9006SU around from my old Rav4-before switching over the lexus RX 330-2004. I believe these should work on the driving lights---

Question: How in the world do I switch them if I decided to...just curious..

Thanks
KC

My dealer told me my high beam bulb is covered under warranty, 4yrs/50k miles. I did not ask about the low beam HID but I'm almost positive it is covered as well under man. warranty (not sure about extended warranty).
