Default RX330 high beam lights inop

My high beams suddenly don't work. Probably not the bulbs since it happened at the same time. I looked at recent threads that said a fuse might be the problem. Anybody else have this happen?
thanks, cbo

Default Any more tips?

Well I checked the fuses on my 04 RX, they were clean and looked fine. Still no high beams. The high beam bulbs look ok, just a little smokey haze on one side, but filaments look good. I replace one of the bulbs on right side with a sylvania 9005, still no light. Low beams work fine. Could it be a switch problem?

Could be the hight beam relay. For its location look at this thread.

BTW, do your DRLs work?

I don't think the DRL's are working either. With the light switch off, I start the engine with the brake off, and no lights. I believe the DRL's are supposed to be on regardless of the switch position. Does that point to the DRL relay?
Thanks again for your help.

I just checked on my wife's '08 RX 350. It has 3 separate fuses: #8 for DRLs, #10 left side high beam and #11 right side. When I turn the brights on, the #10 and 11 become hot. They are hot only when the brights are on. Locate your high beam fuses (probably 2 separate ones and could be other then 10 and 11, because of different model/year) and check them with a tester light. If they become hot w/brights switch on, then your switch is OK and the problem is farther down the line. If they remain dead even when the bright switch is on, then it could be the switch.

Default the plot thickens

I just checked the fuses with the high beam switch on:
DRL is hot, shows 11.5 volts, but left and right high beams are cold.
Still no high beams or DRL's

Well, if the fuses are cold, then it could be the switch, or something else before the fuses. How about your fog lights? When activated, they should go off when the high beams are on. If you have fog lights, do they react to the low/hi beam switch?

The fog lights are on, then turn off when high beam selected. So....maybe not the switch? I continue to scratch my head

Thanks for all your help anyway. Looks like it may be time for a trip to the dreaded dealership.

Will do. I think I may try replacing the DRL relay. Should't cost more than $40 I hope.
