itsallbs,
Thank you for the update. I am glad to hear that you were able to replace both bulbs. The passenger side is more difficult to do than the driver side is, simply because there is less space on the passenger side. As far as the black cover goes, you can go buy new clips for it if you really want to. However, since it is just a cover and it really serves no purpose other than aesthetics, I would just leave it off, but to each their own.

I still haven't gotten around to writing that DIY yet.

Default the saga continues

Ugh amazon sent me the 85122 instead of the 85122+

at this rate I might just get a matching pair elsewhere

are the 81522 and 85122+ differences immediately noticeable or is it after the burn in?

As far as I know, the differences are not immediately noticeable. However, over time, the 85122 color shift significant, to where they appear about 5000K by about the end of life (5-7 years), whereas the 85122+ resists color shift excellently, and still appear to be about 4300Kish at the end of life and long after (my original 85122+ that were factory installed still appeared to be about 4300K even after 10 years of use, which is when I finally replaced them (I have a 2004 RX330).

Thanks I will likely just order another and i guess either way I will be covered because i have one of both. Just a little irked thinking that I would close this chapter by receiving the 85122+. I was leaning towards the 85122+ as you had mentioned that they stay around 4300k and the fact that the first bulb I purchased from pep boys (85122 but 85122+ inside) cost me about $80 after quickly scanning for a $20 off $100 coupon on the net.

$80 for 1 bulb is steep. It should about $100 for a pair. I would just order a pair from theretrofitsource.com and call it a day. They know what they are doing, and know a lot more about automotive lighting than I do. Give them a call if you have an questions, and I'm sure they will gladly help you. I ordered my HID bulbs from them.

I would say check out Xenon Depot, since they are a Club Lexus sponsor, but theretrofitsource has them beat on price by a good margin. Also, I think the Xenon Depot ones are 85122, not 85122+. But here is Xenon Depot link anyway.
