I recently had both crossbars replaced. One the day before the warranty ran out and while replacing the damage one their technician damaged the other one and that was replaced on good will credit. I really just want to remove the cross bars but not take the roof rack off. I wonder if the cross bars work with the 3rd gen Rx350.

When ever it snows it's a pain to remove the snow from the roof with the crossbars.

To just remove the crossbars properly, you need to remove the rear plastic covers on the side rails, and remove one screw that prevents the racks from being slid off the rear.

This thread has several photos and comments on the procedure to remove the covers, and one of the posts includes a picture of the screw.

Read it all, follow the procedure and use a little patience with the rear covers.

I finally took the crossbars off but decided to leave the roof rack on. Much easier to clean, but discovered that my roof has a tan line.

Would you consider selling your Sewell kit? I would like to buy it. Please send me an email at info@storyteller.pro Thanks!

3rd Gen means 2010? No it will not. Will fit a 2009 RX350 though.

This is a great idea I def want to do this to my 2004! Cause the paint is chipping on the rack and I'll never use it.

The rubber seal that runs in the channel between the two roof racks mounts disappeared. I guess it wasn't glued in well enough to only be held by the roof rack removal plate. Does anyone know where I can find the part number for this item. I can't seem to find it on Sewell's site.

KENDIG,

Thanks for the great photo's. As a result of them I have ordered the kit and can't wait to get them off. Aside from how good it looks it will be so much easier to wash, wash and remove the snow. Honestly I would never put anything on the roof, rack or not.

2004 I believe. Yeah - it's rare - The Lexus deaership here / mechanics had never seen one.

I've got lots of water leaking problems with it rains a bunch. Not sure if it's the panoramic roofs fauls ot not. But will come down the left column - and also even in the back.

ANYWAY - roof rack. Of course i want one now and I looked at salvage - found one out in Eastern Canada - Good thing I checked under my gutter covers - No mounting holes at all there! if I want one - looks like I'll have to figure out a clamp on one that will work. Unless I want to put the work in and do a custom setup and make my own holes.

Thanks for the offer! You're right - Sipping would probably kill it - More sor in inconvienence of getting you to pack her up.

That is sad about your panoramic roof. I wished I had one. I had one on my X3 and i loved it. It never leaked but i did have to take it to BMW a couple times because it would get jammed.

I did the roof rack removal when I bought my RX and gave mine away. Now I want them back. If anyone has some extras I will take them. :-)
