SUV based on the camry platform and 18" "lower" profile "street" tires.. ehh.. i would leave the real off-roading to the jeep guys...

I would say it has about as much off road capability as a ford focus... You don't take an RX off road. Plus, the RX330 is really underpowered and you will find that annoying when trying to climb small hills. I have an RX350 and it feels underpowered, so I can only imagine what the 330 feels like.... YIKES

Your 350 feels underpowered? The thing is pretty damn quick.

What sort of off roading?

Gravel, yes
Low inclines, yes
3-4" rocks/steps, yes
Mud ... depends upon your model if it can handle 1 or 2 wheel traction.
Flying rocks and sharp pebbles, NO [radiator is not well protected]

Would I take mine .... No.

To add, remember that the RX is all wheel drive, not 4 wheel drive. HUGE difference in off-road capabilities.

The RX will do well in rain and less than 6" snow covered roads. If you want real off road go Jeep.

I agree with all the posts. The lack of a transfer case with low range and the limited ground clearance really mean the RX is not an off-road vehicle. It's suitable for gravel roads, but I'd never take mine on a trail. The thing rattles bad enough as it is. I can't imagine how bad it would be after twisting up the body by flexing it off road.
If you want to do some 4 wheeling get a 4WD vehicle with low range.

Here is what I use:

man, don't even think about it! I tried it last month when out hunting. After banging and clunking my way along a dirt road for a while, I realized that I was going to leave a significant % of the undercariage behind. Had to gingerly back down the road around 500 yards, and kissed the ground when I got back on to the paved portion after I figured out it had survived.

Off road in the RX means parking lot or driveway. Definitely not much off the beaten path. And as others have stated, if gravel is involved I would avoid with great haste.

Snow covered dirt and gravel roads the all wheel drive should be able to handle that. Maintained forest roads, yep. Leaving these situations and driving primitive 4 wheel drive roads, I would not attempt it without the proper tires and the tires that 99.9% of RX drivers and other SUV's have for street use and gas milage will not cut it. For off roading you need off road tires which are noisey due to the open lugs, get poor gas milage, don't offer the same stopping power on pavement as the tires your OEM tires that came on the RX but they have superior traction in mud and snow over the OEM tires. As all ready mentioned the RX has no low range gearing to help in certain situations you may incounter off road. I would not drive down a power line, side of a mountain or a rutted out logging road in my RX but on maintained county and forest roads I would not fear.
