That's a good idea. The battery may just be covered. Guess you don't know until you ask.
If it's not covered, you don't have to go to the dealer for one. Advance installs them for free, on most cars, if that's in fact what you need.

As far as bashing the dealers.. Some folks have had horrible experiences with them while others think they are great and take their vehicles to them all the time. It's a matter of preference and ultimately the choice to go to one is up to you..

People are going to voice their opinions on these forums, be it good or bad. That's just how it is..

Dealers are not created equal. Stealership is not a good work to use. That's a broad generalization of all dealers.

Some dealers suck. Some do not. Go and give your business to the good dealer. Just good economics 101.

My '07 RX-350 battery went dead in 30 months of service with only 12K miles on the vehicle so mileage makes no difference. Battery was replaced by dealership with new 84 month warranty. The dealership I use is really great for service. Sales is another story. Very difficult to negotiate SP.

You are correct. All business need to make a profit. But would you take your car to Lexus and pay 300 dollars for synthetic oil change. Or go to the Toyota dealer accross the street and pay 80?

Thats 220 dollars for free drinks and a leather couch instead of chairs. I will stick with a Pepsi out of the machine. And keep my 220 dollars.

My battery died the other day. Nearly 3 years to the date of purchase and 36,000 miles. It was after working hours, so I just went to AutoZone and bought a new one. I was back in business within 45 minutes.

I would go accross the street....But I know it doesn't cost $ 300 for a synthetic oil change......I could care less about the waiting room...They do give me a new car to drive...Stealership it is not..........

My dealer charged $120 for synthetic oil change. Free car wash, free rental just drop off and pick up when they call. I think $40 different is worth it.

The battery on my 2007 RX-350 also failed this week. Just like a few others who have commented on this thread, my battery completely failed 3 years and 1 day after delivery (32.5K miles).

It went downhill very quickly instead of progressively getting worse over a month's time. It went from hard to start (the typical signs of a failing battery) to total failure where it would not crank within about three days.

The dealer did install a new Interstate GR24F battery under warranty.
