Any of the ideas would work for me if I had the damn moulding...this thing is driving me friggin crazy! Sometimes I feel like going and seeing a dealer for some anger management about the window.....but i know cooler heads prevail I will find the part or just buy the window for 198.00

Does anyone know of any after market company that makes or sells the window moulding for the rear quarter window on the RX 330 2005 it seems that this a real problem and they just come off, you have to replace the whole window for the small pcs of black shiny plastic moulding on the outside price for the entire window at Lexus is 198.00+tax. It seems ridiculous to change the entire window just because the moulding comes off, it doesnt improve or delete the performance of the vehicle window. I need the moulding because it flew off while driving down the hwy somewhere

I have a 2006 RX-330 and the triangular external trim piece on the driver side rear window came partly off while driving on an Interstate a few days ago. The trim piece is attached with two black rubber "studs" that you push into holes of the metal main structure. Only one "stud" was loose but the piece was flapping in the wind making a loud noise. I was able to push this one back into place but wonder when it will come loose again. My dealer advice was to order a replacement part that is the entire triangular glass window with trim fitted. Cost $440 out of pocket since 3 year warranty is expired and extended warranty doesn't cover it. Other advice I've had is to leave it as is and if it happens again, put super glue or gorilla glue on the "stud" and then push it back in.
Dealer also said carwashes that use spinning brushes might cause the problem but that "brushless" systems should be OK. But I've used a "brushless" carwash for four and a half years with no problem. I think it's a Lexus design problem.

Yeah!! I wish I still had the molding on my car as well! I actually thought of going out to a pre-owned lexus dealer and permanently borrow the moulding from another rx, since they come off so damn easily!! >(

Mine came off the other week. Does anyone figure out an alternative option in terms of replacement part for the window frame? Funny how the dealership blames the car wash machines. Last I recall, the dealership's car wash machine uses the brushes just like other machines at gas stations... I've sent corporate a letter this morning, we'll see what happens. I'll provide update when I hear anything new.

Wow! Amazing that this seems to be a common problem! Poor engineering! Blame on it car washes, yeah, right! How many other Make/Models of other vehicles go through car washes and have the window moulding fail?

Add me to the list of lost trim, 2005 RX330. I think what sucks more than the trim falling off is how Lexus/Toyota wants to make you buy the window to get the trim. Way to go Green Toyota with a wasted side window just to get the trim, I think that offsets Toyota's carbon footprint with the prius.

That's why most of us here checked their trims...to be pro-active in making repairs instead of being a victim.

Ok here the update. Bottom line, Lexus doesn't not supply just the trim. I did make an observation, if you open/close your rear doors, the weather strip on the door itself will rub the tip of the window trim, thus loosing it up over time. Perhaps this can help folks out to look for loose trim as it'll start getting loose from this end. Service Adviser noted that this is strictly cosmetic; window will not leak; bad design. Even if you replace it, you should check everyone now and then as it will come loose/ off again!

rear window moulding for RX 330
I think Lexus had this moulding issue and over the years end-users never made a fuss over it. My 04 loss the trim while cruising down the highway. And I am noticing a few more 04/05/06 models driving around with missing LEFT side moulding. This piece of moulding is not CHEAP. Currently $80.00 on Ebay.
Best to get it from the salvage yard? They likely want to sell you the whole window.
