Default Tire pressure monitoring in 400h? Can't find it

I'm in the process of reserving a new set of tires on-line.
I've got about 67k miles on my 2006 400h, and this will be the second set of new tires. The list of included items the tire dealer put in the quote has 4 TPMS rebuild kits for $28, which sounds very reasonable. Only thing is I had no idea my vehicle had TPMS, and I can't find any warning lights for that on my dashboard, and can't find any reference to low tire pressure warning capability in my owner's manual.

Is the computer program from the tire dealer confusing what the 400h has with what the 450h has?

Thanks,

Joe

06 RX400H tpms are on the ABS and counts # of rotation to determine tire pressure failure

As far as I know, there is no tire pressure monitoring system on the 2006 RX400h.

If I recall correctly, the 04-06 models don't have anything in the wheel or tire to monitor the tire presssure. The car senses the rotational speed of each wheel and if one rotates faster than the others it assumes that there is low tire pressure. IMO, you don't need the kits. This changed in 2007 when the RX joined the rest of the Lexus line with real TPMS.

How does it alert you when it detects a low tire? Is there an audible tone or a message?

There is an indicator light on the right hand cluster just slightly above and to the left of the Cold "C" indicator mark.

That might be the case on the 330, but the 2006 RX400h does NOT have a TPMS of any sort - sensor or wheel diameter/rotation sensor. I don't know about the 2007 onwards.

No it has a TPMS, just not like the actual sensor to the wheel but rather on the ABS and like you said, counts the rotational speed. So it's not the as some of you calls it "real" TPMS

I can tell you with 100% certainty that my 2006 RX400h does not have any kind of tire pressure monitoring system. Is this something they added in later built models, or something specific to US models. Mine is CDN and rolled off the assembly line in early 2005 if I recall correctly. There is no mention of it in the owner's manual, or the service manual, and there is no warning light on the dash either.

Then i'm really confuse then. There is a tires change reset button from the nav setup screen, which indicate there a sensor for TPMS. All the service advisor I talked to swore that there is a tpms on the 06 rx400h.

There is NO tire pressure monitoring system of any sort on the 2006 RX400h. The service advisors are once again showing how inept they are.

The tire change button in the NAV screen has something to do with how the GPS locates the position of the vehicle. It's mentioned on page 11 and page 80 in the NAV manual. There is no mention anywhere in any manual about a TPMS.

Why Lexus didn't engineer some sort of TPMS using the same NAV system is a mystery. As I said, I think later years of the RX400h ' have a TPMS.

So you don't have the tpms reset switch underneath the steering wheel?

Nope. No switch there at all, and I know where to look because I've seen the switch in serveral RX330s I test drove before buying the 400h.

I know first hand that the 06 400h doesn't have TPMS....from driving with a flat tire! LOL! Had a broken valve stem (2nd one btw) that was causing air to leak from the tire. By the time I got to a service station, it was pretty flat and no warning light of any sort came from within the cabin.

Well based on this ^ we are pretty sure that there is no TPMS on the RX400 at least the 06's. I can not believe this.
