HID does not always mean AFS.

I guess, I stand corrected. I have both, HID and AFS on my RX, but only HID on the GS.

No, just because you have HID, does not mean you automatically have AFS. Look for a switch near your fuel door button that says AFS. If you have this switch then you have AFS. I have HID on my 04 RX 330 but have no AFS, even though I thought I had just about every option.

Yes, I do have the automatic leveling, which I originaly thought was AFS. But I also have no AFS.

That's how I have it on my GS. No AFS, no rain sensing wipers, no headlight washers. I do have it all on the RX. All HIDs, however, come with the leveling.

I have rain sensing wipers and headlight washers as well on my 04 RX 330, but no AFS. Strange how Lexus packages these options! Was there a particular package in 04 that included the AFS or was it a stand alone option?

AFS was standard with the performance package.

Performance package included AFS, air suspension, sequential trans (reason I bought it), and 18" wheels with different finish on the rims. I can't remember if the rain sensing wipers and headlamp washers were part of it too. I think it was. It does make the ride bumpier and the steering tighter, maybe more than most people would like in a luxury utility vehicle. But I've been pretty happy with mine over the past six years, knock on wood.

Thanks for the information. I now know the whole AFS thing... I sure asked alot of questions in this quest for AFS knowledge. haha. In the performance package you are referring to, what exactly is the "sequential trans" and do you remember how much of a cost the Performance package was? It seems like if I would of had the Performance package back in 04, my RX could of approached 48K. I thought 45,800k was plenty.

Mike, sequential trans is like tiptronic in Audi. It has come in handy to slow down on hills or in the snow. I love it. It was pricey, second to the ML package, around $4,600. MSRP on my 04 was $45K.

Thanks Anita,
I know exactly what you are referring to now, as i had a trans like that in my 05 BMW 5451, it was very nice. I still am wondering how we both have 04 rx's that msrp for 45K+ and you have the performance package and I don't. It's not that I need the package, it is just interesting to know difference in options for such a similar price?
