a/c filter
#2
The filter doesn't have anything to do with the a/c working "fine". Its purpose is to filter out bad "stuff" from the air. I believe it may even have activated charcoal embedded in it, or am I confusing that with my BMW? Anyhow, replacing the filter is a 10 minute job and easily done by anyone. Not trying to be a smart aZZ but they put the filter there for a reason and they put a life cycle change on it for a reason. If nothing else, pull it out, shake of the big stuff and rinse it off prior to reinstalling. However, they are fairly cheap, especially if you buy the no-name version from Auto Zone/Advance Auto.

The RX cabin filters are hepa type microfilters, but not with activated carbon...we wish. But you can actually get the activated carbon type, somebody makes them to fit many cars.
