I've done brakes before so im not new just never done it in the RX.
Well im hearing the dreaded squeal and looks like my rear brakes are on the way out. Anyone done it yet? Any tips or special tools needed?

Replacing the rears are a breeze. No special tools needed when I did my '04 RX.

Just the regular rear brake pads. I'll have to check the "brake shoes" within since I cant see it. I dont think the ebrake shoes make noise when they wear out. My ebrake do tend to go a bit down so I may need to change it as well even tho I dont use it much.

Wow! I have 46000 miles on our 05 330 and there is at least 1/4" or more of material left on our pads. I was doing an oil change and tire rotation and decided to check the pads while I was at it. With this wear rate I expect to get 60000+ miles out of the pads. Don't get me wrong, I change them if there is ANY suggestion that they are getting too thin. This is my wife's car and we occasionally have grandkids in there. I suspect that my wife and her "granny-driving" habits may be partially responsible for the low pad wear but, regardless, I would have asked for the pads back at 26000 to have them measured at another shop. I am assuming you paid someone to do this? Any chance that you saw the pads after removal?

I, too am running at 35K, bought a set of rear pads and have not put them on. There's still a lot of meat left in the rears. I will check every 5K. I will go near the recommended minimum thickness and then change. When it happens, I will log the mileage and take pics and share.

Absolutely right! Two 14mm bolts and a big C Clamp did the trick. Had a slight problem with my 2 ton jack cause it wouldnt raise the truck all the way lol. So I had to use the stock scissor jack and some jack stands to do it.

I bought some Pro-Stop ceramic pads from Pep Boys cause the Dealer was closed when I got off work. Im hoping they will last a good 50K miles. I didnt have time to check the brake shoes cause it was getting dark, but me or the significant other dont use the e-brake anyways.

I have been planning to replace the pads on front and rear, but I also think I nee d new rotors up front. Should I just get the stock stuff, or stick with aftermarket and save some money?

Them ladies like to ride them brakes hard....I wish I would get some of the hard riding, too....LOL!

What aftermarket pads and rotors do you guys recommend? Also where did you guys get them from?

Just had my 30k done at the dealer and they said that there was over 50% left on the pads..Usually the fronts will wear out before the rears unless you drive with the e brake on..

The ebrakes are hidden and are separate from the rear disc brake pads. They are located inside the rear rotor similar to drum brakes.
