08 Rx 350 Engine Idle
How about Idle...My car seems to not idle real smooth...I mean you can hear it and feel it in the steering wheel...Cars before have seemed to be smoother and less noise..To some it may not be noticable but I am a idle freak I guees..Plan to have it checked on next dealer visit..How about yours ?
I do use high octane gas.....

My '08 RX350 AWD is smooth as butter at idle. It only has 350 miles on odo so I don't expect it to have rough idle. As a matter of fact, when starting the car I couldn't even feel it turning over as the cabin is so muted. I suppose the difference between owning a Lexus and a Toyota is the attention to these details like smooth idling. Maybe you want to ask the dealer to check the engine mounts? I know that Lexus uses some active engine mounts to lessen the engine vibration dynamically. Those could be defective and it is not uncommon even if the car is new.

if the engine turn over at a colder start is around 2-3rpm,then it would be normal. A warm engin shoul be at 1.5rpm.
if your talking about the noise, and the ticking from the engine, then its normal too. its from the direct injection.

Idle should be smooth. Bring it in for a check.

Park should be right around 1000 rpm. Having driven the RX350, there is indeed a rough spot (not to my liking because my RX300 does not do this, but did do so when it was stock) so obviously something in the OEM design.

It must be, because I like from time to time to take out the Highlander that has the same exact engine, at my local Toyota dealer for a test drive, since we don't have the RX350 down here, but I have tested the RX350 in the States and notice the same thing.
A while back I met someone with an RX300 down here passing through and also took that out for a test drive and it had the same issue, even though that is a mechanical accelerator and his was pure stock.

You are right..That 1000 was not at a warm engine..I have noticed now the 700 rpm as you said,,,Still a little rough at times....My 08 RX 350 runs so well and gets great gas mileage I don't think I will worry about a little rough idle..I am afraid if I have Dealer mess with it I my loose my great mileage..I have almost 7000 miles on it and am getting better than 21 in city and over 25 on the highway..The city driving does have a lot of freeway driving..
