Default Faint crackling noise from instr. panel

I finally bought our first Lexus - a slightly used 2007 RX350 (early VIN - manufactured in Feb. 2006). We are hearing some faint crackling/rattling noises from our instrument panel/steering column after applying the brakes with the car idling at a complete stop. It will crackle and rattle for about 15 seconds and then disappear until I apply the brakes again. Has anyone else experienced this? Any ideas if this is normal? I searched the TSBs on techinfo but don't see any that apply.

We had a 2008 RX350 loaner the other day and I didn't hear this noise.

Happy New Year!!

I have 07 RX350 with manufactured date of 6/06. I've not heard any rattling like you describe. Recently, I heard rattling that came from the front driver door panel. i took it in and Lexus took care of it for free. It's now gone.

I think what Booyah meant was "What did they fix to eliminate the rattle?"

For you with dash rattle problems on your RX, is it a Japanese or Canadian made RX?

Check your vin#, first character states the location your RX was made in. J for Japan, 2 for Canada.

I heard that sound on an RX330. A particular customer lived at the top of a hill, and on a cold morning, she would coast down the hill, in gear, and that's when the sound was loudest.

Traced it to the one way valve at the vacuum inlet of the brake booster.

I know it may sound too simplistic and even stupid, but did you check in glove box? Or in sunglasses holder?
I recall few yeas back that I had light rattling sound in my car that drove me crazy. I clearly heard it somewhere in area of front passenger and behind dashboard. I blamed all guts inside of dashboard. It turned out to be my sunglasses rattling in the holder smack in the middle and up in front of me.
The sound can travel in the car and appear elsewhere, rather than at source.

Hi everyone

Lately I have been noticing the same noises coming from front panel when brakes are applied. When I step on brake it will faintly rattle for 5-10 sec and go away, when I release, it will rattle, then go away and sometimes while I am driving at slow speed it rattles. I am wondering what it is. Seems like the author of this thread is experiancing this issues and I was wondering if you could let me know if this has been fixed for you or if you able to indentify the issue so I can take it to dealer. Luckely, this is easy to repeat when I do go there. I just wanted to check if anyone else is having the same issue

Thanks

I have the same problem. Is it the LED tail light relay?
Does anyone have a solution?
My car is going in for service this week for an ever growing list of issues. 08 awd.

I was wondering of the same thing? I asked while back, but I guess noone has this issue, until now.

I also notice that while I drive the car my driver-side door frame makes a contact with that rubber that goes around the door and makes that annoying noice. If I stick a finger in between the frame and rubber it seems to go away and I feel like the door is vibrating

Anyone has this issue? where they hear this noise. maybe this is because the car is new and need to wear in, but that is really annoying

Thanks,
Vasyl

Please respond to whoever has the same with both inst panel noise or door

My wife's RX has the same issue, I'd like to know what's going also. So far the dealer has not been able to ID the problem.
