Should I wait for a 2009
I want to buy the wife a new rx to replace her 2001 rx. I have been thinking about either an 07-08 RX350 or 400h, but with the new model in 2009, should I wait. Will the upgrades be significant enought to make us regret this. (the reason I am paranoid is that I traded in my gs4 for a tahoe then 6 months later the new body styles came out which were a significant upgrade)
Thanks

The traditional question of: Should I get the new model (with the new upgardes) or the older but with $$$$$ savings.
Wait until March of 08. The newly re-designed 09's will be launched. But you will have to fall in line and you will pay premium....because people ware going to be on it......
Then you can evaluate. For right now, speculation will do you no good.
Unless you want an RX right now, go ahead and get the 08's.
Good luck.

my dealer has a 2007 rx400h with every option for $46,000. Never driven and delivered in september. VIN : JTJHW31U172037980
(nav, 18" wheels etc..)
Not sure if this deal is worth looking at either. 2008 rx350 with premium plus package and all the little options and navigation for $43,700. VIN : 2T2HK31U28C082763
So is the 07 hybrid worth $3k more than the 08 350??? or are either deals good

If you don't need one now, then you should wait until March/April 2008 to check out the new RX and compare it to others. If you pick one up now whether MDX or X5, you might regret when new RX comes out. It is just my 2 cents.

I would wait until March/April to at least see what the 09 is all about. That is only 4-5 Months from now. So far IMHO ever new Lexus model has been a significant improvement over the past model except maybe the new GS which is an arguable improvement. There is little doubt in my mind that the new 09 RX model will have a lot of new stuff on it. The question is if you need that new stuff or not. You wont no for sure until you know exactly what will come on the new RX. Might as well wait a few months and find out if you don't need a car right now.

Agree, if you are in no hurry waiting would be the ticket. I was listening to the radio ad for the new ES350 and it goes on and on about the new stuff in the car and I thought "Lexus will probably do at least this many improvements in the new RX", and if that is the case it will be well worth the wait.
Besides, if the new RX does not float your boat then you can still pick up a 2008 at a better price as the dealership trys to unload them!

Lexus/Toyota has a GOOD history for reliability, but even I would never buy a first year of any make (i.e. ES350 tranny issue). I would wait until the '09 is released, see if you like it, then decide on '08 or 2010 model, if you don't need an RX now !!! Give the vehicle one year to even out the kinks, and there will be minor issues.
As for me, I don't like the current gen RX, so I didn't really consider switching. It doesn't have any additional features that I find would warrant a swap. If the rumors of the '09 are true, 7-passenger, 300hp engine then for me that is more significant enhancements.

this site says it won't be out until Spring *2009* (not 2008).
http://www.thecarconnection.com/pf/Enthusi...178.A13214.html
"The RX will be undergoing a major update for the 2009 model year, with production beginning in late December of 2008, toward an on-sale date of early spring of 2009."
Hopefully that was a typo, but I don't see any other information that contradicts it.
