08 Audio
Hi lexus owners,
I just got an 08 RX AWD with navi. I'm a little bit dissapointed at the audio system. Do you have any suggestions on how to improve it?
Thanks.

I'm with Vroom, the standard system sounds fine to me. Have you read all the information in the manual? As to improving it, sure you can inprove it. How deep in your wallet do you want to dig?

You got that right, I have the base model Audio...it sucks...but I am cool about it.

I wouldn't call the base system great by any means, but it is one of the better OEM systems I've heard. To my ears it sounds significantly better than the Bose systems in my last two vehicles.

I went a little overboard on my upgraded audio and video system in my 05 RX330. I changed out everything and then some. I wanted to keep everything hidden and stealth, except for the headunit of course. The audio is fantastic, especially when using the 5.1 sound system for DVD's and music videos. Very tight bass from 4 8' subwoofers in a sealed enclosure.
But your options would be to replace the speakers and/ or upgrade the factory amplifier (located underneath the crossmember just behind the passenger rear seat, you will need to remove some panels to get to it) to a more powerful 4-channel amplifier.
I'm in the car audio business, so I did all of my own installing and fabricating. If you'd like to see what I did, you can check out my cardomain site, it shows a few of the steps I took, as well as some upgraded lighting options.

Lexus Test Driver
A...gree. But the point here is the base Lexus stereo does not sound good for the brand "LEXUS". My Highlander had the factory JBL and like you said, crap, although I wonder which model's JBL has 350 watts.

I think it is intentional to use base audio and offer upgrades....just the way to make more $$. But with Lexus, you would think base should be above normal.....and it is not.
