For those with info on the new RX, assuming it no longer uses the Camry platform, then will it use the rumoured dedicated platform that the next-gen ES is supposed to share with the RX?

Canadian Production
Bad news if you don't like Canadian made product; as I mentioned a few posts ago, Canadian produciton teams are planning their training trips to Japan right now.
BTW, what's wrong with the Canadian production? A number of my co-workers have family that work in that plant. The fanaticism about quality is just as strong as the Japanese plant that makes these. The folks that drive the finshed cars off the line must wear a suit with a tie.

i have no problems with canadians...but one of the reasons why i buy a foreign car is so that it is built from another country. I just liked how my previouys lexuses were built in Japan. there is something special about that.

And here, all along, we thought we were special!
But seriously, this is the only plant (that I know if now) that builds Lexus outside of Japan. They made a huge deal about that when they started it up and from what I hear, it does the same or better quality as the Japanese plant. Besides, how many of your friends know that the "import" came from Canada? I have family that think because it's Toyota, it came from Japan. Same ones think the Chevrolet Aveo comes from Detroit!

In Mexico, there are a good many people who believe a local urban legend who think that although Volkswagen was once German, eventually the Mexican subsidiary got so large that now it is a Mexican company, even though the huge plant in Puebla has been downsized. In Mexico, both Honda and Nissan have plants and even Toyota has one up in Baja California.
However, inevitably when production of a vehicle is switched from one country to another, it takes a while for the team to iron out issues and errors until quality standards are met.

The Lexus Canada plant has won numerous JD Power awards for quality, I think many Lexus RX owners have no problem buying a Canada-built RX.
Naturally the next gen RX will probably be built there as well.

Lexus Test Driver
The current RX is definitely feminine.. I saw someone making fun of another guy stating how he felt the Acura MDX is a more manly vehicle. It is. So is the Buick Enclave. I felt funny driving my wife's RX.. In my life I've seen (noticed) 3 men driving RXs besides myself. The rest have all been women.
Volkswagens made in Mexico have a ton more problems than ones made in Germany. My wife used to work for Volkswagen.
The 2009 RX NEEDS BETTER LEATHER. Lexus' SUVs have crappy leather. I forget what's in the GX, but the LX - for a billion dollars - has the cheapest leather in the lineup - along with the more economical RX. I can't BELIEVE the LX doesn't have semi-analine leather - or at least the stock leather of the LS, IS or GS...
Note: Lexus' crappy leather makes Cadillac leather feel like sandpaper.
Heated and cooled seats would be a nice option for the RX..
Is there still going to be a long wheel base model? I REALLY wonder how much the top of the line RX is going to cost, fully loaded.. Think $50k or close?
