Never had any overheating issue and the water temp gauge never goes over the mid mark. I check the coolant and oil level religiously every month since my wife is driving the RX with 2 kids all the time. She wouldn't know the difference between oil and water. I do most of the driving during the weekend and I pay close attention to any unusual noises.

So how do you know it's overheating?

When you see the water temp gauge goes way above tepee mid mark? And maybe loss of power I guess?

Huh? But you said that "water temp gauge never goes over the mid mark". So are you actually having an issue with overheating? Puzzled by your question.

Never had any overheating issue. What I am trying to say is it is normal when the gauge stays at the mid mark. But when the car is overheating, the gauge needle should go way up and loss of power.
