Default Brakes "Groan"

I've searched for groaning brakes, no results.

I have an '05 RX330 AWD, with around 20k miles now. The brakes are starting to make a "groaning" sound under moderate breaking, especially within the first 15-20 minutes of driving the car. It may be due to just the car not being driven in a while, because its usually only driven twice a week.

Any ideas? Pads seem fine, I'm not sure if the rotors need to be resurfaced at this mileage.

most likely has to do with the rotors then if you say that the pads are fine. they might have to be resurfaced etc etc, brake maintenance.

If there is no pulsation under non-emergency braking (normal slow down) then there is no need to turn the rotors.

Rotors of all Lexus models have a tendency to form a thin layer of rust and that can cause the groaning. This burns off real quick. If you wash your car, you can see the rust the next day.

Salim recommend a good check, pulsation will indicate a need to turn rotors. But also indicates premature failure. If still under warranty, normally they will address the issue.

I agree, most likely due to built up on the rotors.

Oh, makes sense. I guess it'll go away after a bit of driving. Thanks a lot!
