What type of gas do you put in your RX???

Can get mid-grade for price of regular around here on Weds. Then if i go between 9 & 10 PM it is 5 cents off too.

I just received my new 2007 RX350 and I'm confused about the fuel requirements. I have a friend who tells me that Lexus will void your warranty if you use anything but premium fuel. True or False?

Has anyone used lower grade and still been okay? Does it hurt the engine in the long run? Can you use it occassionally? What's the real scoop?

Lexus do not void your warranty if you use the regular fuel.

I use the lower grade, it's fine and I can't tell any difference between mileage using regular or premium fuel.

It's the 12.5 to 1 compression ratio used in the 3.5 liter engine.

I use 87 regular gas in my new RX. I also used it in my Mercedes for the past 5 years too without any problems. Unless your engine knocks, you don't need it.

premium gas is pretty cheap these days. I use premium for a premium car

According to the manual, they ask for nothin' less than 91.

My brother has RX330 and the manual said 91 is recommended, however, on my 350, I think 91 is required.
I brought this question to my dealer and he told me I can use any type of gas, when engine knocks, then switch to higher octane.

With gas used in U.S. and Canada, should not have a problem.

With my RX300 where I live, I always used Premium 92 Octane Pemex (one nationalized gas down here) and it had much higher sulfur content than the U.S. Recently, they switched to one that was in the 200ppm+ min. down to one that has about 30 to 80 ppm, and I can notice the difference.

Modern vehicles can get used to different octanes pretty quickly.

"The warranty covers failures which are a direct result of a manufacturing defect during the warranty period as detailed in your Owner's Manual; therefore, if you do not use a gasoline that meets the requirements in your Owner's Manual and a failure occurs which can be attributed to the use of a non-recommended gasoline, this would not meet the criteria for warranty coverage."
