Default Any solutions to skinny armrests???

Hi All,

I drove the 350 this last weekend and loved it. My only complaint was the armrests.
I'm new to this forum and have done a couple searches to see if there's any solutions to the skinny armrests problem in the RX. Unfortunately, none of the threads ended with an answer. If anyone has any information or remembers seeing a solution somewhere please reply.

A good solution would be to lose lots of weight and develop skinny arms

Has anyone but me also noticed that the armrests seem to be mounted higher that is comfortable? I am not tall, but I would think in a Japanese car, things would fit fine for shorter folks like me.

My main complaint regarding the armrests is that unlike in our GX where they can be adjusted to be differing angles the ones in the RX are either up or down... not a huge deal but you would think that a feature like that would be included on all models

I saw in another forum that http://www.jjproducts.net/ recently designed one 6 1/2'' wide and 14'' long, covered in factory material. It says to call Jim at 1-800-654-2356. Otherwise, you can always resort to duct taping a fluffy pillow onto it.

That site doesn't list any Lexus products...

I as well HATE the armrests. I didn't notice it as much driving, but when I was in the passenger seat and my wife drove it was very apparent. I am 5'11, 250 lbs and they don't cut it for me. It's also completely ridiculous that they aren't adjustable; if you lean the seat back at all the amrest is now at the same angle- USELESS

I am VERY interested in seeing if there are alternatives to this (use a center console armrest from now on Lexus!!! ) as the RX is at the top of my list, but believe it or not I am waiting to see the 07 MDX first solely because of this issue. What good is having such a great vehicle if I can't be comfortable in it? I commute a little over an hour total for work and use my Accord's armrest ALL the time.

Yes, I know, but it was recently designed and Jim said to call for details. I'm fine with the current armrests so I'm just passing this info to those of you seeking to find alternatives.

Thank you very much 32kcolors! I finally called the number today and Jim confirmed what you said. He informed me he has already done several for a local Lexus dealer and they were impressed with the results. Pictures should be up on the website soon but in the meantime he mentioned it would look just like the one done for the PT Cruiser. He said it would be very easy to install and would cost $145. Here's the link for the PT:

This of course also works for the Toyota Highlander as well.

Has anyone tried putting the GX armrests in an RX?

I ordered one from Jim, and he said it would ship in a week or so.

Full report to follow.

It has not arived yet, and I expect it any day now; if it does not arrive by Monday, I will call Jim and see what the expected ship date is. This is a new product for them, and during my very pleasant conversation with Jim it was clear that there was no assurance as to when he would get this early production model out to me, but he thought a week or two should do it.

When it arrives, you will get a full report -- with photos. Every time I am in the car, I wish I had it now.

Default The wide armrest is now available

After some tinkering with the brackets, Jim sent me the wide armrest for the 330, and it's an excellent addition. Full information and a photo are at this new thread:

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=236551

Go there and read all about it.

If you had a problem with the original skinny armrest, call Jim and order one now.

I'm glad I did.
