Grinding noise when braking...
Hi guys, hoping someone can help me with this. I have a 99 RX that recently, has started to make a grinding noise when I apply the brakes. This noise occurs only just as the car comes to a complete stop on mild to firm braking. (If I pump the brakes lightly to come to a stop, it does not occur. If I brake but don't come to a complete stop, there is no noise.)
I took it into the local Lexus dealership, and they found nothing wrong with the brakes, pads, or rotors. They suggest it might be an alignment problem because my tires are showing uneven ware, but I just had the car aligned a month ago.
Any ideas on what it could be?
thanks!

maybe there is debris embedded on a pad?

Insure the lug nuts are torqued to 75 Ft Lbs. Too tight will warp your rotors, which may be the problem. Lexus tightened mine too tight once and a resurface of the rotors corrected the problem. (The rotors "float" on the hubs and can shift if the lug nuts are improperly tightened)
Is there excess brake dust on the brakes and wheels?
