Kindda off-topic but I had 5th generation honda accord made from US and my mom's 5th generation honda accord was made from Japan.... again, the current quality control in Canada or US can't be compared with back then (I've heard that Canada or US factories improved a lot, but how much?) but let me tell you this, *I AM NEVER BUYING JAPANESE CAR MADE IN ELSEWHERE, OTHER THAN JAPAN.*
I'll be riding on my bimmer 'til the next generation RX comes out in about few years
((not to mention that I got rid of my honda accord back in 2004 and my mom is still riding on that good 'old honda accord))
Cheers!

USA, Canada, Japan, you take your chances....I would prefer Japan, but is not a show stopper. I wish we had some statistics on claims-defects made with regards to origin of assembly.....

Herbvdh, thanks. I guess I'm a little disappointed. I wish my car was made in Japan. That's what I was counting on when buying a Lexus in the first place! I hope it lasts.. I'm planning on keeping it forever.

Some of us who have the Canadian made RX's are not doing bad at all. Looking at TSB's, there was quite a few that were solely for Japan assembled cars. So, it is about luck. But if I had a choice, I would choose Japan versus Canada (I am talking about an 04, since that was the 1st year they assembled in Canada). Today, Canada plant is probably at par with Japan....maybe. Congrats! Welcome to our community.

The first number of your vin signifies the country of origin. For the RX, it's one or the other listed below.
J = Japan
2 = Canada
J = Japan
2 = Canada

I have dealt with the Japanese OEM Automakers for a while and yes, it is a different work culture they have. Their goal is to copy us.
