Default maybe its me, but do the 330 headlights suck!?

my dad keeps telling me that the headlights dont light up the road and he can "see a shadow" after the headlight beams stops. iam sure is from the sharp cut-off from the projector beams. but he said he keeps using his high beams on local use, not on the highway. i never drove his 330 at night, so i cant say yet. but do you guys seem to be having this problem??

thanks guys

I love the headlights. I have the HID's, and I wouldn't change a thing.

I agree. The HID lamps do seem to be aimed just a bit low. Very good in the area they do light but the light cuts off abruptly creating a blind area. Need to mention that to the dealer. I suspect his answer will be that they are self leveling and are within spec.

hmm, yes, i will bring it to the dealer to see what they can do. well i have projector lights in my z, but i can raise and lower them with the turn of a screw, wonder if the lex has em, opps i forgot bout the auto leveling, wonder if i can bypass that feature.

Are you guys comparing the HID's in the RX330 to other OEM projector equipped cars? I haven't noticed any significant difference when comparing them to other projector HIDs. I think it may just be the fact that you need to get used to the sharp cut off of projector HIDs.

My wife and I had same complaint. Our dealer adjusted them up a very small amount (I specifically asked that they not blind the oncoming traffic). Now we are satisfied, yet no one has flashed at us in annoyance.

Even non-projector HID has sharp cut-off on top. This way it won't blind the oncoming driver.

I am not a big fan of projector HIDs because they provide no peripheral vision. I could always dial up my regular HID (RX300) to see far ahead the road, while having enough light on the side for deers.

i love my HIDs, but then again, maybe its because its the first car i have ever had with them. anything is better than normal stock halogens.

btw, HarrierAWD, thats funny! (the "i approve of this message" on your signature)

It's my first HID, too. Sure helps on those dark country roads, and those damn deers. And I don't have to use the high beam. I think that my RX300's HID provides better peripheral vision than the projector beam RX330. So yeah, maybe the RX330 headlights do s*ck.

The Lexus adaptive light commercial must be created by someone who never lived in the country side. (Possibly a New Yorker who works on Madison Avenue and lives in an Upper East Side bird cage apartment.) Deers don't stand in the middle of the road. They eat the grass on the side of the road. When a car comes, they panic and JUMP in front of the car. Drivers need peripheral vision to spot them early and slow down.

"I approve of this message" is to mock those politicians who somehow find it necessary to approve their very own spoken words on TV. Only George W. used it properly. Glad you like it.

Cool Eclipse

Unfortunately, most HID cut off at the top almost to a straight line. My friend's '04 TL cuts off so straight that on a dark unlit road, you can't anything beyond that cut off.

Yes, it's to not blind oncoming traffic, so you'll have to get use to it.

As for peripheral vision, never really experienced a lack of it driving cars with HID (my '99 RX does not have it of course). HID do provide a brighter, natural light that's more like day light, which regular halogen is more orange and dimmer.

Ah, just add aftermarket HID foglights and aim em sky high. Who cares about oncoming traffic ??? They're going the other way, you're never going to meet them again right? : )

The projector HID's don't shine that far; I think my IS had better road illumination. Don't know why AFS is even offered, since the projectors have a very wide beam...

couldn't the problem jst come from the self-leveling system of the 330???

C'mon buddy, don't do that. That might blind oncoming traffic and send them to the ditch. Or they just might return the favor. Let's all be courteous and share the road.
