Default RX330 w/RSES and NAV question

1. Will the RX330 play dvd movies on the Nav screen when the car is in park like the GX470?

2. How many Points of interest are there on the Nav (latest version)?

Default Don't forget the brake!

Just to add to that response, yes, the RX330 NAV/RSES will play DVD on the front screen, with the transmission in park and the parking brake engaged. My dealer salesrep couldn't get it to work, but reading the manual, I found the parking brake qualifier.

I believe the 3.1 DVD has 5MM POI's.

Actually, all you *have* to do is set the parking brake. On a trip on I-95 last weekend, we ended up being halted for long periods of time due to a car fire further up the interstate. Since the kids were in back watching a DVD movie on the RSES, and we were playing the audio through the stereo system, I would move a bit in traffic, set the parking brake, watch 5 min of the movie up front on the NAV system, and then release the parking brake to drift forward a few feet, and then set the brake and watch another 5min of the movie. The travel delay was no fun (even worse for the minivan that was completely burned up when we got there - it looked like no injuries though), but playing snippets of the DVD movie up front was pretty fun and it helped pass the extended time. Note that I was in drive (sometimes in park too to be safe), but the RSES played through the front NAV system just fine, whenever I pulled up on the e-brake, regardless of the gear.

P.S. It was fun enough watching DVDs up front that I think it's a good idea that you *can't* do this when driving around normally - even though I'd like to say I'd want the feature to allow the front passenger to watch the DVD, I think I would be too tempted and distracted to avoid seeing it. Better off watching DVDs in the back on the RSES, or up front when you are parked...

P.P.S. Sorry, this is a bit off topic... but, Dynamic Laser Cruise really works great - we used it a lot on this trip, and I got pretty comfortable setting different ranges and using it in light traffic. The funny thing was when climbing up a hill on I-95, pointing directly at the setting sun, the cruise system disengaged (smoothly) - since I am sure I blinded the laser receiver with the sunlight! Pretty cool and a "feature" aluded to in the owner's manual (system may disengage in "certain" situations).
