why is everyone paying for oil changes and other routine maintenance?
i dont know how it works in N.America but over here in the UAE all Lexus cars come with a 60,000 km service plan and all oil changes and other routine service/inspection is free upto the 60k kms. i did not pay anything extra for this.
some other manufacturers give even longer (100k kms) service for no extra cost!!

Here in the US, Lexus do not offer service plan. If uou think you are getting the Lexus service plan for free, you are fooling yourself. How much did you pay for your Lexus? All manufacturer simply add the service plan's cost onto the price of the car.

I think my dealer charges $71. Definitely not worth it since they don't even know how to do it. Just attempted to change it for the first time, and the filter drain bolt, which is supposed to be torqued to 8.5 ftlbs (printed RIGHT ON THE ****ING HOUSING!), is WAY over 100 ftlbs. I can't get it out, even with the filter housing in a vice.

Toyota/Lexus was nice enough to design a convenient way to drain the oil out of the filter so it doesn't get all over, but because the techs at my dealer are apparently ****ing morons, changing the oil now entails oil completely covering the undercarriage and dripping all over the floor. Just what you want with a $50,000 car with only 15k miles.....

I have been changing my own oil since I got past the first ones for free..
I ran conventional oil (Castrol) until about 15K or something like that..

I use Mobil-1 and Wix. Not sure if Wix is available outside the US or
not. I saw an oil filter display some years ago when I discovered Wix..
Some of the filters (Ford) had sawdust in them.
Fram filters (to me) are just crap.

It costs under 35 dollars...
I used to do it at home but now I have place that costs me
$4 /hour for tools and a lift, I can crush my old filter and they
dispose of the old oil..

I do like the "drip" pan under the filter which channels all the run off oil out the same place as the
drain plug.. nice touch Lexus.. :-)

Boy, wish I found a place like that as since we moved into our condo it has been hard to find a place to do these small jobs.

I wish I had one of your vehicles down here to do a DIY. Perhaps if we ever get in something like a Sienna with that engine in my uncle's shop I could do it.

Wow, after reading all this, I'll probably head to Walmart for my next oil change My 10k service (which was just an oil change/tire rotation and fluid top-off) at the new $75million Newport Lexus dealership cost a whopping $198.10!! I guess that goes to pay for the indoor golf course and coffee shop...

From another forum info, oil change for RX350 is slightly different from RX330. And someone suggested that RX350 oil change is similar to 06-07 Avalon, which is shown with the attached file.

They are not. The RX330 uses a typical oil filter while the RX350 uses a cannister with a replaceable internal filter component.

I've purchased 2 cars from Newport Lexus, but avoid paying for their service.
