Interesting question. There are quite a few older threads about teh RX330 Nav... what the current version is, how to change the DVD, etc.
One of them is here.
The current version (released to dealers on Oct. 7, 2003) is ver03.1. There's another thread about this here.
I'm assuming this means the RX has the third-generation Nav. Having read about the Nav system in the '04 LS, which I'm guessing must be ver 4, I can tell you that the RX doesn't have all those features (like the ability to call a POI directly from the Nav, or a listing of the businesses in a building on the map).
That being said, the third-generation nav in the RX is SWEET. Very accurate, and the voice navigation handles giving directions through the most convoluted interchanges with ease.

My brother just purchased the new ES 330 as well and it says that it is a generation 4 but it does not have the blue-tooth option like the LS430 which has generation 4 so I dont see how he can use the call feature
