Default Broken sunroof, shattered glass, what fun....

Hey all,

Okay so I recently bought a 1999 rx 300, as in last week, for $2900, new transmission, the only problem with the car is that the sun roof is broken and the glass is shattered, don't ask me how, he said he was driving on the freeway when it happened. Anyways, so the buttons to move the sunroof make noises and the motor works I guess, but the track and cables are messed up along with the sunroof.

The guy I bought it from did all his work from his friend that knows lexus' inside and out, and he gave me his number and he quoted me $150 for labor, which is totally fine, because that is an amazing price, but I can't seem to find the frame and cable/track for the life of me anywhere. I called the lexus dealership and they quoted me 4200 for the parts, LOL okay lexus, the car isnt even worth that much. At this point I am contemplating just tearing the whole sunroof out and putting in a carbon fiber panel or delete.

Thoughts? Also, does anyone know where to find a sunroof for cheap?

2 ideas...
1) salvage yard parts
2) is there a Toyota vehicle that uses the same size sunroof?

another thought is you might also try checking craigs list. I know it might not be as reliable for finding parts etc; but its probably still worth a shot to see if u can find anything locally.

The guy whom I mentioned earlier said he can see if he can manually close it, and if he cant he wont charge me, if he can then he will charge me 20 bucks. The motor works, but the track and cable it shot so Idk if he will be able to. The glass might also break completely in the process so i will have to put omething under it to catch the glass if it does.
